OUR PASTOR
Rev. Harry Zekveld was born in Canada’s centennial year and raised in a Christian home. In his early years, God took hold of his life, showed him his need for salvation, and kindly led him to trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. Ever since that time, as a sinner saved by grace he has been eager to serve Jesus as his Lord.
During his high school years, Rev. Zekveld felt called by God to the ministry. He attended Redeemer University in Ancaster, Ontario, and graduated from Mid-America Reformed Seminary in 1993. He served the Cornerstone United Reformed Church in Sanborn, Iowa, until 2000. In 2000 he moved to Strathroy and since then has served our church here in Strathroy.
Rev. Zekveld is faithfully supported by his wife and best friend, Evelyn. God has blessed them with 7 children and 6 grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening and visiting family.
Rev. Zekveld can be reached by telephone or email. Contact us if you wish to contact our pastor.
OUR ELDERS AND DEACONS
The elders are “undershepherds” (shepherds under Christ our Chief Shepherd) called to govern the church according to the Word of God and to address the spiritual needs of members in the congregation. Our elders carry out the practice of family visiting (an annual visit of the elders to the homes of our members to discuss matters of faith). They are responsible to oversee the life, work, and preaching of the Minister to ensure that he remains faithful to the Word of God.
The deacons carry out the work of mercy ministry within the congregation and care for the many needs that arise due to illness, unemployment, hardships, and distress. Our deacons also keep up contact with the many outreach & service organizations that we contribute to so that our charitable giving is directed to places of need.
